Published: June 5, 2017.
Experts from the Naper Settlement recently shared advice with the at ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥.
Louise Howard, chief curator, and Sheila Riley, director of learning experiences, offered suggestions on how to maximize the limited space dedicated to the Adelmann Regional Collection. They also offered invaluable knowledge on the following: techniques to preserve artifacts, narrowing the scope of the collection, how to make executive decisions on what objects to admit into the official collection, and insight on processing and digitization of materials. Both Howard and Riley also gave recommendations on how to raise funds to support the Adelmann Regional Collection.
During their visit, The ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ History Center Director Dr. Dennis Cremin and several history students shared insights on history preservation efforts that are underway in addition to the Adelmann Regional History Collection. Student employees Skyler Wurst and Caitlin Lukowksi, Lockport Woman’s Club Intern Kole Torres, and Graduate Assistant Danielle Bradley gave a presentation to Howard and Riley about the Milne Collection project. History majors Torres and Wurst have been able to gain firsthand experience in their field working at the Adelmann Regional History Collection.
The Adelmann Regional History Collection is located on the second floor of the Learning Resource Center. To visit the archive, please contact Dennis Cremin at creminde@lewisu.edu to make an appointment.
