ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ is one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the nation, according to The Princeton Review. The ranking guide at and the book, Princeton Review Guide to 375 Green Colleges, featured ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ in the 2017 list.
The Princeton Review chose the schools for this seventh annual edition of its green guide based on data from its 2016-17 survey of hundreds of four-year colleges concerning the schools' commitment to the environment and sustainability.
"We strongly recommend ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ and the other fine colleges in this guide to the many environmentally-minded students who seek to study and live at green colleges," said The Princeton Review's Robert Franek, Senior VP-Publisher. "We selected the Top Green Colleges based on a combination of school-reported data and student opinion. ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ was chosen as an environmentally responsible school that makes exceptional commitments to sustainability, from academics and career prep to campus clubs and initiatives.”
Dr. Jerry Kavouras, director and professor of Environmental Science at ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥, said, “Our Environmental Science students benefit tremendously by having a green campus as a learning environment. We’re able to directly relate sustainability lessons from the classroom to our campus.”
For example, Environmental Science majors and the Student Sustainability Club recently restored to a native prairie an area on campus, which will be expanded over the years by students as a hands-on learning experience and serve as an experimental outdoor laboratory.
