Morgan Jennings, a ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ history major with minors in theology and Arabic, has been named the Lockport Woman’s Club/ Pat Darin intern.
The prestigious position has been funded by the club since 2009 and is celebrating its 15 years of partnership with ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥. The ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ History Center administers the program which provides students with hands-on experiences in history.
Jennings has worked in the Howard and Lois Adelmann Regional History Collection for the past year. She has served as the student coordinator for the “Reclaiming the Narrative” grant from the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation. She plans on graduating in Fall 2023 and attending graduate school, studying history and the Middle East.
For the internship, she has been processing 35mm film negatives of Joliet and the region. This includes digitization and creating metadata, making the images searchable online.
“I’m really excited to be able to do this work. It’s not often humanities students get to work in their areas of interest as an undergraduate, so I’m incredibly thankful for this opportunity,” said Morgan, a resident of Matteson, Ill.
