Welcome

Doherty Center

Welcome to the Colonel Stephen S. and Lyla Doherty Center for Aviation and Health Research website.

Activities supported by the Doherty Center will be initiated by aviation and health proposals from Lewis faculty and students and will fall into three broad areas of scholarship: research, education, and outreach.

The Doherty Center funds research and scholarly initiatives; encourages partnerships among the University, its students, and the community; and provides opportunities for research experiences for students with faculty mentors.

Investigators supported by the Doherty Center have focused on areas such as wound management, flight deck laser illumination, soil pollution around the airport environment, MRSA, alternative fuels for aviation, biochemistry related to Alzheimer’s Disease, self-assembling DNA complexes, and nurse practitioner perceived readiness for practice. Summaries of funded studies are accessible from the website menu.

Contact DohertyCenter@LewisU.edu to learn more. Together we can promote scholarship, enhance student learning, and strengthen professional and community relationships.
