Composting

In August of 2013, Charlie’s Place began an organics collection. Pre-consumer food scraps, which includes all the food scraps created through food prep, are now being diverted from a landfill and instead being sent to be composted. Organic waste is high in nutrients and has the potential to create compost that is highly sought after, even earning the term “black gold”.

Waste Management Inc. picks up the scraps collected each week and then drops what was collected off at a secondary facility to be composted. By composting this waste, ÌðÐÄÖ±²¥ is taking a great step to reducing the amount of materials sent to a landfill and once more showing its commitment to sustainable practices.
